In 1971, a group of high school students at San Rafael High School, known as the “Waldos” because they would hang out by a wall, heard about a hidden patch of marijuana plants. They decided to meet at 4:20 PM after school to go searching for it. The group would remind each other in the hallways by saying “420 Louis” as code for their plan.
